If you have been following this blog for long enough, you know that, last August, we went on a train trip to Okayama prefecture using only local trains.
The photos from this trip are long overdue, so here is a selection from one of the stops during this trip, Sōja, a small town North of Okayama City.
We stopped there to visit Sōja shrine, which apparently gave its name to the town. It was a small but very nice shrine.
As in all shrines in Japan, there was an interesting collection of wooden prayer tablets (or Ema, 絵馬).
After visiting the shrine we went for a walk around town. The weather was very wet, but the area is lovely and was well worth the efforts.
And to finish things off, here is a video filmed around the shrine (with my old, not-so-good camcorder, sorry about that).
